FIT Business Innovation Center

FIT Business Innovation Center is part of a five-year contract with the Melbourne Airport Authority, W+J was the Construction Manager for the FIT Innovation Center (formerly Technical Research & Development Authority – TRDA) facility.  This contemporary, 30,000-square-foot office building, located at the corner of Grumman Place and NASA Boulevard in Melbourne, was built for the City of Melbourne Airport Authority on behalf of TRDA as a Business Innovation Center.

Construction began June 2006 and was completed April 2007.  Constructed with concrete tilt-wall systems, this building has four high bay work areas for manufacturing.  There are numerous offices and a media room with folding partitions, allowing one large conference room or three smaller conference quarters.  TRDA took occupancy of the facility ahead of schedule due largely to the hard work of the construction team and the major subcontractors on the project.

As the design phase was completed, and after pricing the project at 30%, 60% and final construction documents, we submitted a GMP that was within 1% of the preliminary estimates.
