City of West Melbourne Community Park, Phase 2
W+J Construction won the competitive bid for Phase 2 at the City of West Melbourne’s Community Park. Phase 1 work, also performed by W+J, included land clearing and relocation of ponds to accommodate the Space Coast Field of Dreams.
Space Coast Field of Dreams, built by W+J, is an all-access sports complex for children and adults of all abilities. Park features include fully shaded rubberized playing surfaces for baseball, soccer, and basketball; 8900 SF of shaded playground space with specially designed equipment; and a 2500 SF concession stand. All facilities are designed to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility equipment.
Phase 2 consists of a splash pad, pump house, recreation office, picnic structures, an amphitheater and performance lawn, shade structures, a pond overlook deck, a chess plaza, and restrooms.
