Grumman Administrative & Technical Facilities

Grumman Administrative & Technical Facilities is one of the most outstanding examples of how W+J Construction performs. This fast-track project for Grumman, including front-end design and tail-end tenant fit-up, proceeded in stages as the design was produced and was completed in 12 months.

Grumman used this four-story 190,000 SF building to design and develop the “Joint Stars” Battlefield Reconnaissance/Surveillance System. It comprises prefabricated architectural concrete wall panels attached to the structural steel framing.

The interior of the building features offices, a cafeteria, laboratories, over 100,000 square feet of computer access flooring, and anechoic chambers containing a one-ton bridge crane.  The rooftop penthouse supports a radome enclosure, and the fourth level is wholly included with special radio frequency shielding.

W+J performed 30 percent of the project work using their manpower in foundations, concrete, metal studs, drywall, general carpentry, and painting.
